EPA Co-opted by Chemical Industry.

Published January 28, 2025.

Donald Trump recently nominated David Fotouhi to be the 2nd in command at the EPA. Fotouhi helped roll back climate regulation and water protections while working at the EPA during Trump’s first administration. In October, lawyer David Fotouhi represented car companies and challenged the EPA’s ban on the cancer causing compound asbestos. Fotouhi has also defended a paper company from lawsuits alleging PFAS contamination and a tire company from lawsuits alleging chemical runoff killing endangered salmon. On top of that, he led a group lawsuit against the EPA over their water standards for PCBs. David Fotouhi will continue to serve the chemical industry against the best interests of America's environmental and public health if appointed to the EPA. Fotouhi will require approval by the Senate, so it is important you contact your US senator offices to tell them that you do not support his appointment.

You can read the original ProPublica story on David Fotouhi here.

Here is a full list of US Senators and their contact information. The nomination was referred to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Fotouhi has to first be approved by the committee before being voted on by the full US Senate. You can contact the committee members and your US senators to tell them you do not support Fotouhi's appointment. The primary reasons are his track record of defending polluters and fighting environmental regulation.
