300 open-pollinated, non-gmo, pesticide-free, and heirloom green sprouting Calabrese broccoli seeds ( Brassica oleracea) per packet. Grows quickly to 4 in diameter heads. Cut main head first and then continually harvest side shoots. Long, extended harvesting period. Comes from the Italian province of Calabria. Introduced to America in the early 1900s by Stefano and Andrea D'Arrigo. Grows in zones 3-12. Direct sow outdoors 0.5 in deep, 2-3 weeks before last frost, 3-6 in apart. For indoors, plant 5-6 weeks before last frost. Keep soil moist and in sunlight. Add compost. Transplant outdoors before last frost when seedlings reach 5-6 in. Place 12 in apart. Germination takes 5-14 days. Plant again in late summer for fall harvest. Matures in 60-70 days. Plant with herbs and onions.
