100 open-pollinated, non-gmo, pesticide-free, and heirloom cushaw green striped pumpkin seeds (Cucurbita mixta) per packet. Winter squash. Traditional pumpkin that is revered for pies and decorations. 110 days to maturity. Native heirloom that gets its name from the Algonquin word coscushaw. Long necked. Best to direct sow 1 in deep after last frost when soil reaches 65-70F. Sow in rich soil and direct sun. Place 24 in apart in small mounds. Keep soil evenly moist but don’t get leaves wet. Germinates in 7-14 days. Once vines develop, apply mulch. Protect seedlings if temps drop below 65F. Not frost tolerant. Plant with corn and beans. Ready to harvest in 95 days when stem is dry and skin is hard. Then place in a warm spot with circulation for 2 weeks to cure.
