Approximately 500 open-pollinated, non-gmo, and pesticide free heirloom iceberg lettuce (Lactuca sativa) seeds per packet. Cool weather crop that can be sown outdoors once soil is workable and above freezing. Most popular lettuce on the market. Grows in zones 3-12. Warm climates can sow again in fall when temperatures drop below 75F. Takes 55-85 days to mature. Plant 16-24 inches apart and thin to 12 inches. Firm heads with tender leaves. Over 125 years old originating from French Batavian lettuce. Direct sow first seeds 0.25 in deep every 18 in when soil reaches at least 35F. Germination takes 7-14 days. Thin to 8-12 in apart once seedlings start growing. Can continually sow new crops every 2-3 weeks in cooler climates. Seeds are dormant at soil temperatures above 75F. Lettuce likes even moisture and full sun. Plant with herbs, onion, or radish.
