Approximately 1,500 open-pollinated, non-gmo, and pesticide free heirloom indian grass (Sorghastrum nutans) seeds per packet. Direct sow in Spring below surface of soil. Grows well in dry to medium moisture soil. Important source of forage and cover for wildlife and insects. Deep roots help prevent soil erosion. Will form seed earlier in season. Since it wind pollinates, indian grass can spread quickly and crowd out other grasses without proper management. Recommended to grow in open fields or contained spaces but not small landscapes.
