Stop Spraying Dandelions

Dandelions are your friends, not your enemies. Spraying dandelions with herbicides like Roundup will poison your lawn and pollinators. Additionally, you will waste a natural source of medicine.

Dandelions have amazing health benefits for your digestion, liver, kidneys, brain, and heart. The spring is a great time to harvest dandelion flowers, leaves, and roots from the roots up. You can use the flower heads for teas and jellies, the leaves in salads, and the roots in teas and tinctures. It is not recommended to harvest dandelions in areas that might accumulate environmental toxins.

The compound Taraxacin, which is great for liver and digestive function, is highest in the roots in the spring. The heart healthy Sesquiterpenoids are highest in the fall when the roots grow even deeper.

Dandelions are not considered to be the best pollen source for pollinators but they do bloom early. You can be sure to not harvest all of them to ensure more wind pollination and provide early food for pollinators.

I use dandelion root in a number of my herbal teas and tinctures such as the anti-inflammatory tea, parasite cleanse tincture, heavy metal detox tincture, lymphatic drainage tincture, kidney & liver support tea and tincture, mold detox tea and tincture, and cellular support tea and tincture.
