Approximately 500 open-pollinated, non-gmo, and pesticide-free Broadleaf Batavian Endive Escarole Seeds (Cichorium endivia) per packet. Cool season crop that makes a great addition to salads and Southern Italian baked greens recipe. Member of the chicory family that dates back over 1,000 years to the Mediterranean. Slightly bitter and medicinal lettuce green. Start seeds indoors by planting 0.25 in deep as early as two months before last frost. Harden and transplant outdoors every 12 in starting as early as four weeks before last frost. Or direct sow as early as 3-4 weeks before last frost. Start harvesting baby greens in 45 days or mature greens in 60 days. Cut from base when harvesting to promote additional growth. Plant again in mid to late summer for fall harvests. Warmer climates can sow in mid fall for winter harvests.
