Approximately 280 open-pollinated, non-gmo, pesticide-free, and heirloom Daikon Minowase Radish radish seeds (Raphanus sativus) per packet. Ancient Japanese heirloom radish that's a staple in cooking. Daikon is a root vegetable reported to have originated in the Mediterranean and brought to China for cultivation around 500 B.C. Roots are large, often 2 to 4 inches in diameter and 6 to 20 inches long. More mild flavor than other radishes. Grows 6-18 inches long and 2-4 inches in diameter with a firm and crisp texture. Roots and leaves are packed with nutrients. Does well in all types of soil. Thrives in cool temperatures and tolerates the cold well. Plant every two weeks for continuous harvest until hot summer temps arrive. Great for raised beds and container. This variety originated from Northern Europe. Direct sow as early as four weeks before last frost. Place 0.5 in deep and 3 in apart. Germination takes 4-7 days. Sow again in the fall, starting 6-8 weeks before frost. Matures in 45 days. Water evenly. Add compost to soil. Avoid planting near other radish varieties since they can cross-pollinate.
