Green Globe Artichoke Seeds

Approximately 40 open-pollinated, non-gmo, and pesticide free heirloom green globe artichoke seeds (Cynara scolymus) per packet. Grows in zones 6-12. Old California heirloom. Perennial in warm climates. Grows up to 6 feet with chokes that have 3-4 in diameter. Harvest in the second season. Difficult to grow. Stratify in fridge for 2 weeks. Then start indoors up to 8-12 weeks before last frost. Place 0.25 in deep. Maintain soil temp at 65-70F. Germination takes 10-21 days. Once established, place seedlings in temps below 50F for 10-21 days. Transplant 2 weeks after last frost 4-5 feet apart. Or direct sow in spring or fall. Keep soil moist. Mulch around. Buds form in 120 days.
