Woody perennial. Use the leaves fresh or dry for a great flavor in cooking. Harvest before flowering. Also used to make oil of oregano medicinal extracts. Direct sow seeds when soil reaches 65F. Lightly press into soil but do not bury. Needs 6+ hours of direct sun to sprout. Germination takes 7-14 days. Keep soil moist but not wet. Or direct sow as early as 6-8 weeks before last frost. Transplant after last frost, 16 in apart. Prefers full sun an dryer soil. Prune tops to prevent flowering. Plant with cabbage.
