75 open-pollinated, non-gmo, pesticide-free, and heirloom pencil cob dent corn seeds (Zea mays) per packet. Shoepeg variety that dates back to the 1800s. Named after its pencil thin cob. Kernels are long and large. Great for roasting, grits, and cornbread. Grows 6-7 feet tall and produce 2-3 ears each. Direct sow 1-2 in deep in full sun as early as 1-2 weeks after last frost when soil temp reaches at least 60°F. Cannot tolerate frost. Space 12 in apart. Space rows 36 in apart. Germination takes 7-10 days. Likes well drained and composted soil. Mulch around plant once established. Use organic pest control on sight of bugs. Matures in 75 days. Harvest after silk turns brown. Plant with squash and beans. Isolate from other corn varieties.
